About Earth Day
Earth Day has been marked on April 22 since 1970, and in 2027 it falls on Thu, Apr 22, 2027. For most people it is less a holiday than a reminder: to get outside, to notice a place, to look after it.
A gift made from a real place
The place contour tile is the piece we make that is closest to the day. Choose a mountain, a lake, a park or the hills around home, and our software builds the tile from public USGS elevation data, stepping the terrain into contour layers with your words inlaid beside it. It is a portrait of the land itself, the kind of gift for someone who hikes, paddles or simply grew up somewhere they miss. Elevation: USGS 3DEP.
What we will and will not claim
Most of our pieces are PLA, a plastic made from plants rather than oil. That is a real difference, but PLA does not break down in a backyard compost pile or in the ground, so we never call our pieces biodegradable or compostable. What we can say is that each piece is printed to order, so nothing is made that nobody wanted, and it is built to last for years. A fluted planter and plant stakes in PETG are planned and not open for orders yet.

Questions about Earth Day
When is Earth Day in 2027?
Thu, Apr 22, 2027. It has been marked every April 22 since 1970.
What is the place contour tile?
A tile carved with the real terrain of a place you choose, from USGS 3DEP elevation data, with your words inlaid. Elevation: USGS 3DEP.
Are your pieces biodegradable?
We do not claim that. Most pieces are PLA, a plastic made from plants such as corn, but it does not break down in a backyard compost or in the ground, so we never call it biodegradable or compostable.
Do you make planters?
A fluted planter and plant stakes are planned for a later season and are not open for orders yet. The remind me form below sends one note when they open.
Do you ship with plastic packaging?
Pieces travel in paper based mailers and boxes wherever the size allows.
