Drawer Baseplate
A 42 mm grid baseplate cut to your drawer's inside size, so the bins fill the drawer edge to edge.
About this piece
Measure the inside of the drawer and we fit as many full 42 mm cells as it allows, then deal with the leftover space the way you choose. Fill the edges with half cells so bins cannot slide, or center the grid and leave equal gaps at the sides. Thickness is 4.65 mm, the standard grid profile height, so bins from any 42 mm system lock in.
Drawers wider or deeper than 300 mm get sections that key together on the underside and lie flat as one plate.
What it fits
- Kitchen drawers, with bins for gadgets and tools.
- Workshop and garage drawers, with bins for hardware and bits.
- Desk drawers, with bins for cables, chargers and stationery.
- Bathroom vanity drawers.
- Toolbox trays and tackle boxes, as long as the inside is flat.
Any bin on the 42 mm grid locks in, ours or another maker's.
How to measure
- Inside width. Open the drawer fully. Measure from the inside face of the left side to the inside face of the right side, at the bottom of the drawer.
- Inside depth. From the inside face of the front to the inside face of the back, at the bottom.
- Check the corners. If the drawer has rounded inside corners or a lip at the rim, measure at the floor, not the rim; the plate sits on the floor.
Millimeters or inches. If the drawer is slightly out of square, enter the smaller measurement.

Questions about the drawer baseplate
Why fill the edges?
A grid of full cells rarely divides evenly into a drawer. Leftover space at the edges lets the whole plate shift. Half cells at the edges fill it, so the plate and every bin on it stay where you put them.
How many cells will I get?
Divide each inside measurement by 42 and round down. A 400 by 300 mm drawer gives 9 by 7 cells, which is 63. The price updates on the page as you enter the numbers.
Does it need to be screwed down?
No. Cut to the drawer with the edges filled, it cannot move. Four rubber feet are fitted underneath so it does not rattle on a metal drawer floor.
What if my drawer floor is not flat?
A slight bow is fine. A raised center rib or a lip around the edge is not; email us a photo and we can quote a plate with a relief cut.
